Blue Moon
Biography & Highlights
You'll hear the bass thumping right onto Butler Street before you even spot the neon sign hanging over the door at Blue Moon. It's an old-school neighborhood gay bar in Lawrenceville that doesn't pretend to be a bottle service club or a massive concert hall. You're walking into a narrow, dimly lit room where the walls are covered in local art and community flyers, and the front door opens right up to a small wooden bar packed shoulder-to-shoulder on a Saturday night.
The back room is where the real action happens when there's a live drag show or a DIY synth set pushing through the PA. It's tight, loud, and you'll probably spill your drink if you try to dance too hard near the speaker stacks. Drinks are cheap, the pours are heavy, and nobody's standing around posing for photos because everyone's just watching whoever's on stage command the whole room.
There's no fancy coat check and you're not getting any VIP treatment, but that's why you came here anyway. You'll catch sweaty local acts, trade jokes with the bartenders between sets, and stumble back out onto the sidewalk with your ears ringing.
